Tropical Favourites contains most of all pictures of the beauties of the ocean where new species are described every day. If You are a student, a marine biologist, diver, snorkeler or just have an intense interest in marine species, I hope that You will descend into this page. But be aware - You might get addicted. The word Taxonomy is used as the practice and science of classification. The word comes from two Greek words meaning order/arrangement and law/science. Taxonomy uses taxonomic units, known as taxa. Biological classification also known as Linnaean taxonomy is still generally the best known form of taxonomy and it uses taxonomic ranks, including, among others:, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, Species, in that order. How scientists arrive at their taxa varies, depending on the available data. The classification on Tropical Favourites is done by comparing pictures of the different individual species. This “science” is not easy done, but both some experts and I have tried to do our best. As an identification tool for nudibranchs and sea slugs Tropicalfavourites have used Nudi Pixel and ITIS and Fishbase for fish.
